Topic: Reckoning with Race After George Floyd

The starting point: The June 2020 murder of George Floyd by a white policeman in Minneapolis, MN, which led to the largest protests in US history: between 7 and 20 million people in 2,500 towns and cities. There was a national outcry for racial justice, followed by a national reckoning on race. What has changed in the last 18 months?

Sue Headlee, Denise Snyder, and Bill Kincaid will lead the discussion.

Discussion Questions:

-Have your personal views changed since all the protests and debates?
-What has been achieved on racial equity since the protests?  What kind of backlash has occurred?
-What are the pros and cons of the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act? the pros and cons of the John Lewis Voting Rights Act?

This discussion is open to fully vaccinated members only. Please have your vaccination status registered with the village before the discussion.
