What is this?
Remember Dick Tracy’s special radio wrist watch from the 1940’s comics? Or Frankenstein’s movie creation as envisioned two centuries ago? The first time you sent an email? When intelligence wasn’t artificial and mops and not robots cleaned the floor? When a drone was a humming sound?
If life sometimes feels like “Back to the Future” and you’re curious about what’s percolating today that will shape the world in new imagined ways, the Smithsonian has a building-wide exhibit with a vast array of interactives, artworks, technologies, and ideas that give a sense of what’s to come.
Give your brain an imagination boost while having fun! Smell a molecule. Clean your clothes in a wetland. Meditate with an AI robot. Travel through space and time. Watch water being harvested from air. Become an emoji.
Registration required. Tour size is limited to 25. Masks are required within the building. Instructions on where to meet will be sent to everyone who registers.
Accessibility:
All areas are accessible.
Transportation:
