Start the new year right with a discussion about mindfulness with Claire Kelly of the University of Oxford Mindfulness Center and Paloma Costa, a FBWE volunteer. Claire will cover the origins of mindfulness, evidence-based research about mindfulness, and its current applications. She will debunk some common mindfulness myths and talk about what mindfulness really is. Participants will even have an opportunity to engage in mindfulness practice during this interactive program!

New to mindfulness? Mindfulness blends modern psychology and the ancient wisdom of meditation to help us live more fully and with a greater sense of perspective. It is the awareness that arises from paying attention to our experience in the present moment, with curiosity, compassion, and acceptance.

Claire Kelly is the Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MCBT) lead for the University of Oxford Mindfulness Center. She has taught mindfulness to adults in a range of settings and trained teachers in the UK, Ireland, Thailand and Hong Kong to teach mindfulness-based courses to staff and students. She was previously the Director of Curricula and Training for the UK's Mindfulness in Schools Project.
