Variety in programming to expand in 2015
Not a week goes by without Villagers engaging in programs – wellness workshops, arts and cultural experiences, coffee klatches, happy hours, author talks or garden tours, to name a few. By the end of 2014, the Village will have hosted approximately 213 programs and ongoing affinity group meetings, representing nearly 1,000 total “attendance.”
During this first year of operation, we on the Program Committee have sometimes joked that we were “throwing mud at the walls” to see what would stick. What we’ve learned is that our Village is an enthusiastic group with varied interests. We are willing to take chances, learn new skills and extend ourselves to make new friends and strengthen our community. And nearly everybody loves to eat!
Some new areas of programming we plan to explore in the coming year include technology, financial health and hands-on exercise classes. On the literary front, there’s a new Men’s Book Club in the works, and we hope to present local authors on a more regular basis. Our very popular Happy Hours will continue, the Holiday Potluck is back, and we’re looking for additional opportunities to stage some old-fashioned fun.
We have ongoing Affinity Groups that meet for coffee, meditation, walking, care-givers support, film discussion and fine dining. If you have a passion and are looking for like-minded Villagers to form a group in 2015, let us know.
To keep up the pace, the Program Committee welcomes members and volunteers to participate in the planning and execution of programs on a one-time or an ongoing basis. And if you have a skill to share or know someone who can open the door for a special program, please contact us.
